Terms of Service

Please read these Terms of Service carefully before using ARAS. These terms govern your access to and use of the platform and all its features.
1. Acceptance of Terms
- By accessing or using ARAS (Advanced Research Automation System), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service.
- If you do not agree to these terms, you may not access or use the platform.
- These terms apply to all users, including Principal Investigators, Research Associates, Graduate Students, Undergraduate Students, Lab Technicians, and Guests.
2. Description of Service
- ARAS is a Research Operating System providing tools for electronic lab notebooks, protocol execution, sample/biobank management, inventory tracking, literature intelligence, student development, and AI-assisted research workflows.
- ARAS is intended for use by research teams in academic, institutional, and professional research settings.
- We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature of the service at any time with reasonable notice.
3. User Accounts
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
- You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account.
- You must provide accurate and current information when registering.
- You must be at least 16 years old to use ARAS, or have authorization from your institution.
- Accounts may not be shared between individuals.
4. Acceptable Use
- ARAS may be used only for lawful research, academic, and professional purposes.
- You may not use ARAS to store or process data that violates applicable laws, regulations, or institutional ethics approvals.
- You may not attempt to circumvent access controls, reverse-engineer the platform, or interfere with its operation.
- You may not upload malware, harmful code, or content that violates third-party rights.
- Research data involving human subjects must comply with applicable ethical standards (Helsinki Declaration, institutional IRB requirements).
5. Data Ownership
- You retain full ownership of all research data, lab records, and content you create within ARAS.
- By using ARAS, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and display your content solely to provide the service.
- We do not claim ownership over your research data, findings, or intellectual property.
- You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to upload and process any data you enter into ARAS, including data derived from patient samples, donor materials, or third-party datasets.
6. AI Features
- ARAS provides AI-assisted features including Djibril Assistant, Scout Agent, Protocol Advisor, Data Analyst, and Writing Agent.
- AI outputs are provided for informational and productivity purposes only. They do not constitute professional, medical, scientific, or legal advice.
- You are responsible for reviewing and validating all AI-generated content before use in research records, manuscripts, or any official documentation.
- AI features are powered by third-party providers (Groq, Google Gemini). Use of these features is also subject to those providers' terms.
7. Research Data Integrity
- ARAS maintains immutable audit logs and signed ELN entries to support research data integrity.
- Once an ELN entry is digitally signed, it cannot be edited. Addenda may be added as new entries.
- You must not attempt to retroactively alter, delete, or falsify research records.
- Misuse of ARAS to fabricate, falsify, or misrepresent research data is a violation of these terms and may be reported to your institution.
8. Limitation of Liability
- ARAS is provided 'as is' without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
- We are not liable for any loss of research data, interruption of service, or damages arising from your use of ARAS.
- You are solely responsible for maintaining backups of critical research data.
- Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid for the service in the preceding 12 months.
9. Termination
- You may stop using ARAS at any time and request deletion of your account.
- We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms, without prior notice.
- Upon termination, your access to project workspaces will be revoked. Your data may be retained for a period as described in our Privacy Policy.
10. Changes to Terms
- We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
- Continued use of ARAS after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
